I’m Wilfrid Louis, the nursing leader at Blue Ridge Medical Center. Today, I’m conducting a training session on our telehealth-integrated Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. The purpose of this session is to familiarize you with this new technology, address any questions or concerns you may have, and ensure a smooth transition to enhance patient outcomes and satisfaction. Objectives Let’s outline the objectives of today’s presentation: Purpose of the Telehealth Integrated EHR System The telehealth-integrated EHR system combines telehealth technology with electronic health records to provide virtual care, online consultations, and improved medical record-keeping (Haleem et al., 2021). Studies suggest that such systems support coordinated care for chronic patients and increase access to timely healthcare (Davidson, 2020; Burton et al., 2022). Use of the Telehealth-Integrated EHRs These systems enable virtual consultations, remote monitoring, and access to health information, improving patient access and engagement (Jin et al., 2020; Gajarawala & Pelkowski, 2021). However, challenges such as technical difficulties and lack of physical examination may impact their effectiveness. Downsides or Limitations of Telehealth-Integrated EHRs Technical issues, privacy concerns, and potential loss of personal touch are among the limitations of these systems (Gajarawala & Pelkowski, 2021; Mubaraki et al., 2021). Risks and Benefits of Telehealth-Integrated EHR System While telehealth-integrated EHRs offer increased access to care and remote monitoring, they also pose privacy risks and challenges related to digital literacy (Haimi, 2023; Nouri et al., 2020). Requirement for Successful Deployment Successful deployment requires a robust technological infrastructure, comprehensive training, and patient education (Pandit et al., 2023; Dutta & Hwang, 2020). Patient Confidentiality and Privacy Ensuring patient privacy involves end-to-end encryption, regular audits, informed consent, and clear communication (Basil et al., 2022). Evaluation and Criteria for Assessing the Effectiveness of Technology Evaluation criteria include end-user feedback, patient satisfaction, and financial impact (Adane et al., 2019; da Fonseca et al., 2021). On-going Training and Technical Support Continuous training, workshops, and IT support are essential for successful implementation (Jalalabadi et al., 2018). Conclusion This training session aims to equip you with the necessary knowledge to embrace our telehealth-integrated EHR system effectively.
