Community Description

Pasadena is a suburban city located in Los Angeles County, California. Known for its cultural diversity, Pasadena is home to residents from various racial and ethnic backgrounds, including White, African American, Indian American, Native Hawaiian, Pacific Islander, Hispanic, and Latino communities.

As of the most recent U.S. Census Bureau data, the city has a population of approximately 141,029 people, with 48% male and 52% female residents. About 7% of the population consists of children under the age of five, while 15.6% are adults aged 65 and above.

One of the pressing public health concerns in Pasadena is pediatric asthma, which is strongly linked to air pollution in the area. Environmental factors such as industrial activity, traffic emissions, and other air contaminants significantly impact respiratory health, particularly among children and older adults.
